Elementary donated 100 handmade knitted beanies, fleece blankets

Students from the 21st Century After School Program at Guerra Elementary donated 100 handmade knitted beanies, fleece blankets and scarves to the Vannie E. Cook Children’s Cancer Center in McAllen. The elementary students are under the direction of Mr. Rene Hernandez – 21st Century site coordinator.


MJH students earn spots in regional bands

After intense auditions, five band students from Mission Jr. High School have earned spots in the Texas Music Educators Association Region XV Middle School Band.

For the fourth time in the last five years, the Senior Conducting (Parliamentary Procedure) team from the Mission FFA Chapter has placed in the top ten at the Texas FFA State Leadership Development Event finals.

He recently earned the designation of Certified Texas School Business Specialist.
The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) certified Doeppenschmidt after he completed all the requirements to become a Certified Texas School Business Specialist (CTSBS) effective Nov. 30 of this year.
TASBO certification is earned through a combination of specified coursework, school business experience, and training in the area of specialization. Once certification is awarded, individuals are required to complete 60 hours of continuing education every three years (from the date of certification) in order to maintain their certification.
PSJA ISD now has two Certified Texas School Business Specialists. Juan Carlos Velez, Compliance Accountant, is also certified under TASBO as a Texas School Business Specialist.

GOLD LEADERSHIP CIRCLE AWARD FOR FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY

PHARR – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD is the recipient of a Gold Leadership Circle Award from the Texas Comptroller’s Office. This is the second year in a row that the district receives this honor for successfully implementing financial transparency. The Comptroller Leadership Circle encourages and applauds local governments across Texas that have focused on giving taxpayers a transparent look at local expenditures.
