Sharyland North Students Make All-Region Band



On Dececember 10, middle school musicians from Roma to PSJA gathered to compete for a spot in the All-Region Bands.  Making the All-Region Band is the highest honor a middle school musician can earn.  Thirty-six students from Sharyland North Junior High earned this privilege.  The members of the All-Region Band performed a concert on January 21. Congratulations go out to these hard-working individuals who worked diligently on the audition music in order to be successful. 
All-Region Musicians from SNJH are:  Valeria Gulino, Anne Rara, Kathryn Lopez, Lauren Esqueda, Bridgette Famiglietti, Grethel Villarreal, Gabriela Gonzalez, Valerie Morales, Angelica Rodriguez, Jonathan Muniz, Jennifer Shepherd, Dario Coronado, Jose Oliviera, Mia Gimotea, Ceci Delgadillo, Ramiro Montemayor, Jonathan Jones, Alberto Quintanilla, Mark Trevino, Jonas Cuanang, CJ Litif, Javier Martinez , Mikey Syer, Jose Aleman, Milo Perales, Dana Lara, Carlos Carillo, Rebecca Gonzalez, Adrian Rivera, Carina Hernandez, Samuel Ramon, Alexander Van Wagoner, Andres Hernandez, Shianne Diaz, Devyn McClain, and Stephanie Crespo.  




Sharyland ISD Recognizes January as School Board Recognition Month




Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed January as School Board Recognition Month and Sharyland ISD is joining other districts across the state to gratefully acknowledge local trustees’ unfailing commitment to our communities and schools.

 “Our board members are one of more than 7,300 men and women across the state who devote countless hours every day. These boards enable us to have local control of our public schools, meaning that decisions are made by local leaders who understand the community’s unique culture, values, and challenges,” Yasmina Nye, Asst. Superintendent said.

We all know that the world can be brighter for every Texas child with the help from caring adults.  And this is what every person on this Board is “an extraordinary caring adult” who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing a school district.  Their actions and decisions are key in helping our kids shine everyday of the year. Nye said.

Serving for the Sharyland ISD Board are Ricky Longoria, Board President; Dr. Noe Oliveira, Vice-President; Suzanne Peña, Secretary; Rolando Peña, Assistant Secretary; Dr. Noel O. Garza, Member; Fernando Ramirez, Member; and Juan F. Zuniga, Member.
During the regular board meeting in January the board was recognized by district staffThere were performances by the Sharyland High School Vocal Alliance Choir and Sharyland Premier String Ensemble, as well as gifts, and a very appreciative audience. The City of Mission presented the School Board with a Proclamation in recognition of their hard work and dedication in governing Sharyland ISD.
Campus principals invited board members to visit their campuses and participate in campus activities that have been scheduled to appreciate Board members throughout the month of January.
